A Unique Philosophy

My name is Tessa Scott and I’m a qualified naturopath and nutritionist based in Dunedin, New Zealand.

I became interested in nutrition and naturopathy after suffering from chronic health issues throughout my 20's. I also lost my mother to breast cancer in 2009 and this considerably changed my way of thinking about disease and healing in the body. This led me to complete a degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Otago and become a qualified nutritionist. Whilst I love nutrition and the positive effect good nutrition has on the body, I felt like I was missing something - a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Naturopathy seemed like the logical next step and so I completed an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy.

I am mum to Maddie, who has really sparked my interest in infant and toddler nutrition. It’s so important that our wee ones get the best start in life, so supporting parents to provide good nutrition and teach their children good habits is an area that I’ve become really passionate about. Going through the pregnancy and postpartum journey also made me very aware of how important maternal health is, so empowering women to achieve optimal wellbeing throughout each life stage is another area of interest for me.

I am currently a Registered Nutritionist with the Nutrition Society of New Zealand as well as being a Registered Naturopath through the Naturopaths and Medical Herbalists of New Zealand (Inc).
